Stop wasting money on lip-plumping glosses and lip masks that leave you with lackluster results, or results that fade after only an hour or so. With lip filler injections you can experience fuller, bolder, and more symmetrical lips that last. At Wisconsin Vein Center & MediSpa, we are dedicated to helping our clients look and feel their absolute best, which is why we offer a variety of different lip filler injections. The best lip filler for you will be chosen based on your aesthetic goals and desired results.

What is Lip Filler?

Lip filler is a type of dermal filler that is specifically designed to be injected into the lips. At Wisconsin Vein Center & MediSpa we offer lip filler formulated with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring protein in the body that promotes hydration. Lip filler can be used as a tool to help balance asymmetrical lips, resulting in a more harmonious facial appearance. Lip filler can also be used to add volume to thin lips, establishing a bolder pout. Lip filler is also a great way to address signs of aging around the mouth such as lip lines, barcode lines, and age-related volume loss in the lips.

Who Is a Candidate for Lip Filler?

The ideal candidate for lip filler is an individual seeking subtle enhancements to the shape, volume, or symmetry of their lips. Also those who wish to achieve a more defined or plump lip contour, address asymmetry, or minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. Generally, candidates should be in good overall health and maintain realistic expectations regarding the results of the procedure. It is also important for candidates to understand the temporary nature of lip fillers, as they typically last for several months and require maintenance appointments.

Lip Filler Treatment

After a thorough assessment wherein you and your provider go over your facial anatomy and goals regarding the results of your lip filler, you are ready for injections. Your provider will begin by thoroughly cleansing the treatment area before injecting the lip filler product. The product is injected using a fine gauge needle and is said to feel like a small pinch. A topical lidocaine cream can be applied at your request if it would make you more comfortable. Filler is measured by the syringe. The number of syringes needed will depend on your goals and the current state of your lips.

Lip Filler Results and Recovery

Immediately following lip filler injections, you may notice slight redness, swelling, and bruising on or around the lips. This is normal and should fade over the next few days. You will notice immediate plumping results that will settle into their optimal appearance around 2-4 weeks after treatment. For any post-treatment discomfort, you may lightly apply an ice pack to the lips but avoid putting too much pressure on them so as to avoid product migration.

FAQs

Check out these frequently asked questions about lip fillers.

Does drinking water help fillers?

Yes! Drinking water can help your skin remain moisturized and also make hyaluronic acid lip fillers more effective. This is because hyaluronic acid attracts water to produce its volumizing effects.

Do lip fillers hurt?

A topical numbing agent will be applied before your injections to minimize any discomfort so your lip filler procedure should be virtually painless.

What should you not do after lip fillers?

Make sure to avoid strenuous exercise for the first day since it can exacerbate swelling and bruising. Additionally, avoid taking blood thinners since these can also impact your results. It is also recommended you avoid dental visits 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your filler appointment.

When can I eat after getting lip fillers?

If you opt for a numbing cream during treatment, make sure to wait until it wears off before eating. Also, avoid messy or chewy foods for the first day so you don't irritate the injection sites by wiping your lips.

How long does it take for lip fillers to settle?

Although you'll see immediate results with your lip filler treatment, it can take up to 4 weeks for the product to settle in and achieve its final look. If you want to touch up your results, it's best to wait until the product has fully settled.

Can I wear lipstick after lip injections?

For best results, you should avoid lip colors for the first day or two since certain products can be irritating or drying. You may also experience some tenderness in the area, meaning lipstick may be too uncomfortable to put on.

Can I brush my teeth after lip fillers?

It's okay to brush your teeth after fillers but you may experience some tenderness. Make sure to be very gentle when brushing your teeth and washing your face after fillers.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the body and it keeps your skin hydrated to help with skin flexibility and wound healing and prevent skin wrinkles and lines. It is used in many dermal fillers because of its hydrating benefits.

What happens after lip filler injection?

After lip filler injection, you will experience an immediate increase in volume and better symmetry. You may notice temporary swelling and bruising.

How Long does Lip Filler last?

Lip filler can last between 6 – 8 month or even up to a year. The longevity of filler depends on your metabolism and the filler chosen.

What is recovery for Lip Filler?

Recovery from lip filler is relatively mild. You may experience mild bruising and swelling; however, these side effects will fade within a few days. Your provider can discuss options with you to minimize bruising.

What is the best filler for lips?

Our lip filler options include Juvéderm Ultra, Restylane, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Kysse, and Belotero.

Does makeup make acne worse?

Acne-prone skin is more sensitive to makeup products. Foundations and concealers may worsen breakouts or cause acne. Wearing medical-grade skin-care products can ensure that you use the right products to avoid acne.

Can dehydration cause rosacea?

Dehydrated skin is more likely to develop rosacea. Individuals with dehydrated skin may be in a dry environment and can benefit from increased hydration and a humidifier in their home.

Does a facial help with acne?

Cleansing Therapeutic Facials can help with acne by removing pore-clogging irritants from the skin. A Cleansing Therapeutic Facial can remove dead skin cells, dirt, and excess oil from the skin.
