Tattoo Removal FAQ

How does Alma 1064 laser tattoo removal work?

The Alma 1064 Q-Switched laser system is an innovative tattoo removal device that permanently removes tattoo ink from your skin. This laser system offers multi-wavelength technology to address a variety of pigments by breaking down the particles under the skin with extremely short pulses of energy. Over time, these smaller and smaller particles can be absorbed into the body where they are flushed away by the immune system.

How many treatments do I need?

Tattoo removal is a journey. Treatments are usually spaced 8 weeks apart to allow for full healing. Additionally, adjacent tattoos cannot be worked on until the treated tattoo has fully healed. You will need somewhere between 4-10 treatments to see ideal results, depending on size and color of the tattoo, along with other factors.  A free consultation with our Patient Care Coordinator will help both you and your clinician come up with a treatment plan. The good news, however, is that only 4-6 treatments are typically needed compared to many more for most laser tattoo removal results.

Does tattoo removal hurt?

During the treatment, your clinician can apply numbing cream to help reduce discomfort.

Can my tattoo be completely removed?

Tattoos are created by injecting colored pigment into small, deep holes made in the skin. Regardless of who injects the pigment– a tattoo artist or an untrained person– the marks or designs are relatively permanent. Because each tattoo is unique, removal techniques must be tailored to suit each individual case. Our expert staff will provide you with a professional consultation covering all your questions, what you can expect from the treatment, and pre- and post-treatment instructions. We will also cover all the benefits and risks associated with the procedure. Each tattoo will be unique in size and color, so we will be able to establish a price for the removal and estimate the number of treatments needed. In some cases, full removal will not be possible, but we will work with each patient to achieve the best possible results.
