LASER TREATMENTS

Today’s laser treatments make a popular choice for those looking to rejuvenate their skin and reduce the effects of aging, sun damage, and certain skin disorders. Laser treatments can be used to reduce the appearance of many common skin imperfections.

There are two major types of laser treatments available for skin rejuvenation: ablative and non-ablative. Ablative laser treatments remove the top layer of the skin, making them a better option for more severe signs of aging, but require a more involved healing process. Non-ablative lasers, on the other hand, leave the surface of the skin intact and work by heating underlying tissue to stimulate new collagen production.

CHEMICAL PEELS

Chemical peels are a skin treatment involving the application of some form of chemical solution to the skin. This encourages old, damaged skin to peel away and reveal newer skin underneath.

Superficial chemical peels only affect the very outermost layer of skin. They typically involve the use of mild acids like lactic and glycolic acid. Medium peels remove the upper skin layer and portions of the epidermis layer. A deep peel removes the stratum corneum, epidermis, and some of the lower dermis skin layers. Deep peels involve significant downtime.

When you are dealing with mild skin complaints like enlarged pores or a dull complexion, a superficial peel will usually fit the bill. This type of peel may contain alpha hydroxy, lactic, or glycolic acid that will remove any buildup of dead skin cells found on the surface of your skin.

Medium chemical peels address problems that affect deeper layers of the skin like light lines and wrinkles, mild scars, and blemishes. One of the chemicals that is used commonly for medium peels is called TCA. In fact, medium peels are often known as “the TCA peel.”

Deep peels are an aggressive form of treatment that should only be performed once. You must be prepared to set aside a few weeks to recover at home after a deep peel. Patients should always schedule a consultation before booking a peel of any kind.

MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling is a treatment that creates micro-channels in the skin. This stimulates the production of collagen and new, healthy skin cells, allowing for a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance. Microneedling is an effective treatment for skin concerns such as fine lines, acne scars, or pigmentation such as age spots. It is also sometimes combined with PRP therapy in what’s known as the “Vampire Facial,” as the microchannels created by microneedling allow the plasma to more deeply penetrate the skin. Microneedling results are noticeable as soon as one week after treatment.  We offer Microneedling alone, with various topical add ons, and RF MicroNeedling called Genius RF.
