Fall Is the Perfect Time to Repair & Rejuvenate Image

All summer long, the sun took its toll on your skin, leaving behind redness, dark spots, and dryness. But the good news? Autumn is the ideal season to give your skin the reset it needs before winter.

Fall is a great time, (necessary time) to review your skincare regimen.

As it gets cooler and drier outside, and less humid inside because of heating, your skin will need more moisture and less exfoliation.  These are things to adjust:

Cleansing

  • Switch to a gentler cleanser  to avoid stripping away natural oils
  • Exfoliate only 1-2 times a week, perhaps using something as gentle as lactic acid or an enzyme cleanser.

Use a heavier moisturizer

  • Dry air pulls moisture from the skin, so use a richer cream or lotion
  • Layer a hydrating serum, with hyaluronic acid under your moisturizer for extra plumpness
  • Consider an oil to be patted into the skin for more glow

Continue to use Broad-spectrum SPF

  • UV rays are still present, and UVA, which causes skin aging, can penetrate clouds and glass.

Add nourishing ingredients (See below for products to consider!)

  • Ceramides – help repair the skin barrier
  • Niacinamide – soothes and strengthens the skin, evens tone
  • Squalene – light but moisturizing
  • Oat extract, allantoin, probiotics – calm dry, irritated skin
  • Try an overnight hydrating mask once or twice a week

Use a humidifier

  • Run a humidifier at night to restore moisture to the dry air caused by indoor heating.

Protect your skin from wind and cold

  • Remember lip balm and hand cream
  • Use a thicker barrier cream if exposed to wind
  • Cover up with scarves, hats, gloves
