PRP and PRF are both taken from your own blood. PRP is harvested from blood spun in a centrifuge at a high speed to completely separate the plasma layer; this plasma is used for PRP treatment. PRF is spun down at a slower speed so that the components are not completely separated. The fibrin left in the blood acts as a scaffolding or matrix for the growth factors to stick to and therefore allows for a slower release of growth factors.
