What is Xeomin?
Xeomin is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that limits muscle movements around the brows and the eyes. The active ingredient in the formula is botulinum type A. It’s used to smooth facial lines and wrinkles in the areas where it’s injected. While Xeomin is quite similar to Botox, it differs in that it contains no additives. This can help avoid the risk of developing antibodies that can reduce the efficacy of the treatment.
In order to maintain the results of Xeomin, treatment must be repeated about every three to four months. Xeomin is very similar to Botox and Dysport. Why one is used over the other depends on what you’re looking for and you or your injector’s personal preferences.
How Does Xeomin Work?
Xeomin works by stopping the nerve signals that go from the brain to the muscles in the face. By relaxing the facial muscles this way, the treatment smooths wrinkles around the brows, forehead, and eyes making you appear younger without looking like your face is frozen in one expression.
During your appointment, your provider will inject the Xeomin solution into the appropriate muscle in the face to address your concerns. How many injections you need depends on the severity of your fine lines and wrinkles and the results you’re looking for.
The appointment typically takes around ten minutes and with no downtime, you’re able to go back to work or back to your daily routine.
