FemiLift

One thing that many women feel uncomfortable talking about is sexual issues. This is not an uncommon problem to deal with. Many women feel discomfort during sex or have become uncomfortable with their vaginal region after pregnancy. With Femilift, we can help our patients address issues with vaginal laxity, sexual sensation, and more. Dr. Joi Davis here at Wisconsin Vein Center & MediSpa works personally with her patients to help them feel more comfortable in their sexual health.

WHAT IS FEMILIFT?

Femilift is an FDA approved pixel CO2 laser for vaginal use.  It can be used for women with vaginal dryness, mild to moderate vaginal laxity, and mild to moderate stress urinary incontinence.  It can also enhance sexual sensation for both partners by tightening the vaginal walls. This treatment is great for women who feel discomfort during sex and thus don’t enjoy the experience. It is a beneficial treatment to help women who are suffering self-esteem issues and low sexual desire due to their discomfort.

HOW DOES FEMILIFT WORK?

Femilift works by superficially burning and heating the vaginal tissue, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. This increases the tone and elasticity of the vaginal tissue.  Unlike surgery, it is painless and non-invasive. It is performed in an outpatient setting with no downtime.  Patients will notice increased blood flow, lubrication, and tightness of the vagina.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY?

Patients typically require 3 treatments over 3-4 months.  A single annual treatment is recommended to maintain results.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE?

Any woman who wants to improve vaginal lubrication, sexual satisfaction and or mild to moderate urinary stress incontinence (from laughing, sneezing, coughing, some exercise). This is great alternative for women wanting to avoid use of estrogen or surgery.  Femilift is an excellent alternative to medical or surgical treatments and a low risk solution for improving quality of life for common issues.  Laser treatments can be used to ‘supercharge’ other modalities for pelvic health, such as physical therapy, hormones, or surgery.  This procedure requires careful patient selection and knowledge of pelvic anatomy and surgical or medical treatment options.  Dr. Davis’s 30-year career as a gynecologist ensures that you are getting an expert opinion on the best treatment modality for your symptoms.

BREAST CANCER AND MENOPAUSE

After fighting breast cancer, you deserve to feel whole, happy, and empowered.  Cancer treatments often force women into early menopause, with side effects that can be difficult to talk about but can severely impact your sexual and bladder health.  It’s important for your mental wellbeing and intimate relationships to address the physical changes that occur after chemotherapy and other cancer treatments.

GENITOURINARY SYNDROME OF MENOPAUSE

Decreasing hormone levels after chemotherapy and menopause cause vaginal and bladder tissues to become thin, inelastic and dry – resulting in symptoms such as burning, itching, urinary incontinence and pain with intercourse. Traditionally, moisturizers, lubricants, vaginal estrogen and physical therapy are recommended for these symptoms. Unfortunately, these treatment options are not successful or viable for many women, especially those with hormone sensitive cancers.

FEMILIFT

We are the first clinic in Wisconsin to offer this groundbreaking solution for improving sexual and bladder health.  This vaginal laser, painlessly resurfaces vaginal mucosa over 3 short monthly treatments.  Collagen and blood flow is stimulated to reverse the unpleasant side effects of hormone loss. Vaginal tissue becomes tighter, thicker, stronger and more hydrated. Dr Joi Davis is a 30-year career gynecologist and can help you comfortably and confidently resume sexual relationships.  Many women also experience improvements in bladder symptoms.

Hormones and Why I Use the DUTCH Test

Hormones are the messengers made in different glands that tell our tissue to perform specific functions. FemiLift FAQS

WHAT PREPARATIONS ARE NECESSARY BEFORE STARTING TREATMENTS WITH FEMILIFT?

You should have a routine pelvic exam and Pap smear that is normal and up to date according to current guidelines and personal history. You should not have any active vaginal infections, including HSV or HPV, at the time of treatment.  Report any history of vaginal infections.   Abnormal vaginal bleeding needs to be evaluated. The procedure is not performed during pregnancy or active menstruation.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Most patients report NO side effects during or after the treatment. Some women may experience a mucous discharge for up to a week after the procedure.  You should report any heavy vaginal bleeding or unusual changes.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

The procedure itself only takes 10-15 minutes and requires no downtime.  The effects to the vagina and bladder vary from woman to woman, but usually lasts 1 year or longer.

WHEN WILL RESULTS BE NOTICED?

Most patients sense tighter vaginal walls, improved lubrication and less urine leakage almost immediately after the 1st or 2nd procedure. However, the repair process continues for weeks following the Femilift treatments.  As with other laser procedures, collagen remodeling continues to rejuvenate tissue up to 4-6 months after treatment.

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS?

There is no downtime. Routine physical activity and exercise can be immediately resumed following Femilift treatment. Tampons and intercourse should be avoided for 3 days following the treatment.

CAN THE FEMILIFT PROCEDURE BE PERFORMED WHILE TAKING OR USING ANY FORM OF BIRTH CONTROL?

Yes. It can be performed with all types of birth control including coils, implants or IUD. It can also be performed after a hysterectomy.
