With a world of skincare products that are promised to be miracle cures, the results can be underwhelming. This is often because serums and creams work on the skin’s surface, not quite reaching the deeper layers where volume and elasticity have depleted over time.  Skin loses volume and elasticity as we age, which contributes to moderate to severe parentheses lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Dermal fillers like JUVÉDERM® XC are one of the best options available to temporarily fill in these areas with hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring sugar found in your body.  Its effectiveness has been proven time and time again, delivering real results immediately and polishing the subtle, more youthful look you want. By carefully injecting JUVÉDERM® XC underneath the skin, your look can be completely rejuvenated, reducing the appearance of facial wrinkles and folds. It offers a safe and effective treatment option with little to no downtime, and results that can last up to one year.

Wisconsin Vein Center & MediSpa offers experts in the Milwaukee and Waukesha area and we are a Diamond Level Provider of Botox® and the entire Juvéderm family.  Set up a complimentary consultation with our Patient Care Coordinator and see if JUVÉDERM® XC is right for you.

Juvederm FAQs

What is Juvéderm XC made of?

Juvéderm XC is made with hyaluronic acid, a sugar naturally found in the skin. Normally, it’s responsible for retaining moisture and keeping the skin plump and hydrated. Juvéderm injectables use a unique formula with cross-linked molecules for long-lasting results. Juvéderm injectables labeled ‘XC’ also contain lidocaine, a common anesthetic, for a more comfortable injection experience.

Am I a good candidate for Juvéderm XC?

During a consultation with your injector, you should be sure to discuss any allergies, health conditions, or history of reactions. This can help us determine whether Juvéderm XC is a safe and effective option for you. It’s important to have realistic expectations of what dermal fillers can achieve, and our expert injectors can recommend whether non-surgical treatments can achieve your cosmetic goals.

Is there any downtime with Juvéderm XC?

Treatment with dermal fillers requires only a quick and easy treatment session in our office.  Although quick and easy, it IS a medical procedure, so make sure you have no major infections or dental procedures near the time of treatment.   It has minimal downtime, so you can return to your regular schedule immediately.  You might experience some redness, swelling, or itchiness at the injection site, or occasionally, bruising, but this subsides quickly.  Certain medications can increase your risk of bruising, so be sure to talk to our clinicians before scheduling your treatment.

Does Juvéderm XC hurt?

Most patients can tolerate the injection process which is quick and feels like a pinch. However, we can supply a topical anesthetic cream if needed. Additionally, Juvéderm XC contains lidocaine for a comfortable injection process and recovery.

How long does Juvéderm XC last?

This treatment option generally lasts for up to one year, although this can be dependent on a lot of factors. It can vary from patient to patient depending on anatomy, and also location of treatment. For example, dermal fillers around the mouth area are usually broken up by the body faster because of the regular movement. Our expert injectors can give you the best idea of how long you can expect your results to last and when you can opt for re-treatment for best results.

Is Juvéderm XC safe?

Juvéderm XC is FDA-approved for moderate to severe parentheses lines around the nose and mouth. When administered by a licensed and experienced injector, it can provide excellent, safe results. For this reason, it’s important to avoid cheap deals on injectables or treatments from non-cosmetically-trained providers. These treatments can often be unsafe from a lack of training, as well as counterfeit products, so always look for a practice with a reputable name and certification from Allergan, maker of Juvéderm XC.  Wisconsin Vein Center & MediSpa is a Platinum Provider of Allergan Injectables.

When is the best age to get Juvéderm XC?

This can vary with each patient, but Juvéderm XC is FDA-approved for patients 21 and older. Everyone ages at different rates, so you can speak with our expert injectors about your best options for treatment of your unique concerns.

What is the difference between Juvéderm XC and Botox?

Both Juvéderm XC and Botox are injectable treatments, but they are different types. Juvéderm XC is a dermal filler, meaning it restores volume under the skin by injecting a product to fill out wrinkles. Botox is a neuromodulator, meaning it’s injected into the muscles of the face to prevent them from moving. Over time, regular muscle movements in the face can cause creases and wrinkles, so Botox can relax them and prevent wrinkles from forming further. If you’re looking for effective, non-surgical treatments, you may benefit from a package of both types of injectable.
