Nothing ever stays the same, including your skin! As we age, our bodies undergo sometimes subtle, sometimes dramatic changes. As our skin changes, so do our needs for skin care regimens. From wrinkles and fine lines, sun spots, sagging skin and more, all of our skin’s flaws become more and more noticeable as we age. Thankfully, Dr. Manjoney and her team at Wisconsin Vein Center & MediSpa are fully equipped to customize a skin care approach that works just for you!
In Your 20’s
At this age, skin is still smooth and elastic, though fine lines may become noticeable around the forehead or mouth. The highest priority for skin care during this time is prevention in order to minimize or avoid problems later in life. Wrinkle treatments can prevent deeper, more noticeable lines from forming. Acne treatments are in-demand for clients in this age bracket as well, since acne flare-ups are still common. Men and women in their 20’s may also want to treat unwanted hair and are tired of the hassles of shaving or waxing – this makes our laser hair removal treatments another popular service.

In Your 30’s
Barely noticeable problems from the 20’s become more noticeable now, as wrinkles like “crow’s feet” (wrinkles around the eyes), expression lines, nasal-labial folds (lines running from the nose to the mouth) and wrinkles at the corners of the mouth appear and become deeper. Damaging effects of sun exposure like brown spots and sun spots also typically manifest during this time. Skin care in this time frame is typically customized around active, busy lifestyles while maintaining solid results. Treatments such as wrinkle fillers and Botox become more emphasized.

In Your 40’s
During this time, existing lines and wrinkles deepen and spread. Lines from the corners of the mouth or radiating from the upper lip extend toward the chin. The skin around the neck and jawline will loosen and begin to sag, starting the “jowl” look. The face will also begin losing volume, particularly around the temple and cheek areas. The eyebrows tend to fall slightly and eyelids can droop, causing a tired look. For this age group, the same treatments used for the 30’s are employed in conjunction with laser treatments and skin tightening.

In Your 50’s
Flaws and lines in the skin continue to accelerate in this time period. A noticeable “hollowed out” look emerges – particularly in the cheeks and temple areas – due to gradual loss of bone, redistribution of fat, and decreasing skin elasticity. Existing frown lines, expression lines, and wrinkles deepen and spread. Laxity in the neck and jawline is more apparent. Sun spots and other effects of sun exposure accumulate. This age group relies on a multi-tiered approach involving several treatment options, from fillers and Botox to lasers and other services.

In (or Past) Your 60’s
In and beyond the 60’s, the highest priority is typically replenishing the skin with lost volume and elasticity. Wrinkles, folds, and sagging, which were once noticeable, are now prominent, and brown and sun spots can cover large areas of skin. Varicose veins and spider veins become much more common and noticeable. This age group can typically benefit from all possible treatment modalities, weaved into personalized combination therapies.
